Weekly Bow Tie Guy on a page from my Sketch Book

As I have recently taken up skiing, I signed up to be a chaperon for my daughters school on ski days. Last week while resting at the end of the day, I drew a few individuals eating in the lodge at Burke Mountain. I had previously drawing the chipmunk.

Just posting two sketches of speakers from December Graduation at Lyndon State College. I almost always have my sketch book with me.

Weekly Bow Tie Guy-Camel

Camel (ˈkaməl)

Last year while giving a presentation on careers in art at the local grade school I gave the students an opportunity to challenge me to draw whatever they said on the board (a somewhat frightening proposal).

One student asked me to draw a camel. I just couldn't bring myself to draw a normal camel. I added the extra humps to emphasize that there are no limits to drawing and your imagination.

I think I will title this one ‘It Has Been a Long Week.’

Waiting to See the President

A few weeks ago, I was called in to meet with the president of the college. This seems to be happening more lately. While waiting I took some much needed sketch time.

Happy Birthday J.R.R. Tolkien

On this day in 1892 John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born. Without a doubt Tolkien has been the most influential writer of high-fantasy. His books The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings have had a great influence on me as well. I enjoyed reading his books in my teens and I enjoyed them even more when I read them out loud with Julia. While reading them the second time, I realized how poetic Tolkien's writing is. It is simply beautiful. I feel it was meant to be read aloud.
