One Small Exciting Step!

I made my first online sale! Traveling, print 1 of 25 has now been shipped off to a new home. One leg of my table is starting to strengthen.

It was exhilarating to log into my site and see that someone had purchased a print. I navigated the shipping process and sent it off. Having just opened the store a week ago and having a purchase that quickly was a wonderful event.

It helped to have the print on display at the Quimby Gallery as part of the Northern Vermont Faculty Exhibit, Come Together. They wanted a print and went to my site to make the purchase. This emphasizes the need to have multiple legs to support the table as mentioned in my last post.

This first sale is small, but exciting. I know full well that the online store will take time to grow, but it is exciting nonetheless.

Something that just needed to be illustrated

I had some time to have some fun. This started as one of my roughs for the Animation Festival Poster. In the end it wasn’t Vermonty enough. I really liked the idea and wanted to see it completed. I also explored some different techniques with the clouds

These are a continuation of unique juxtapositioning of things with blue.

#54 of 100 Elephants: Octophant

The octopus is just cool. Norman Rockwell is attributed as saying “If the illustration is not working put a dog in it. If it still isn't working put a bandage on the dogs paw.” I would maintain that if any art work is not working put an octopus in it and then you won't even need a bandage. This works for logos and graphic design as well.

Bow Tie Guy of the Day: Dumbo Octopus

Dumbo Octopus (ˈdəmbō ˈäktəpəs)

Hovering just a little bit over the sea floor, these are the deepest sea living octopi. They are called the combo octopus because of their similarity in ears with Dumbo, the elephant from Disney's cartoon. 

I have attempted these before with various success. I am pretty happy with this one. You can see a plethora of them on my illustration for the letter D.

It's big and it has eight tentacles.  On Monday I will post three for the weekend.

This is a color test for a sketch that I made last year. I am practicing my use of color and how to better apply it to my drawings.
