#64 of 100 Elephants: The Mantaphant

Continuing with aquatic elephants is the Mantaphant, a manta ray elephant. I loved how the ears transformed into the fins of the manta ray.

I also continually find it interesting how one idea naturally leads to another. I created the Whale elephant which inspired this creation.

Manta Ray (ˈmantə rā)

The more I study the manta ray the more I am fascinated by it's simple form and beauty. They are amazing creatures. The manta ray are listed as vulnerable on the endangered species list due to pollution, entanglement in fishing nets, and harvesting for medical purposes.
