Phiomia:

The Phiomia is an extinct Northern African animal that somewhat resembles and elephant. There are similarities to the Platybelodon, but they are much smaller.

Bow Tie Guy of the Day: Diprotodon

Diprotodon

The diprotodon is is the largest marsupial known to have lived on the earth. They could grow to the size of a hippopotamus in length and were around 6 and a half feet tall. Their skeletons have been found across Australia. Diprotodon means two forward teeth. They existed through most of the Pleistocene epoch becoming extinct 46,000 years ago, give or take a few centuries.

Mastodon (ˈmastəˌdän)

I am making time to draw again. Life got really hectic, with summer, work and stuff. Here is a bow tie guy I have been working on for a while.

The mastodon lived during the Micene to Pleistocene epochs. The American Mastodon had fur and was smaller than the Wooly Mammoth.

Bow Tie Guy of the Day: Elephant Bird

Elephant Bird (ˈeləfənt bərd)

The elephant bird was a large flightless bird that is now extinct. They lived on the island of Madagascar. The reason for their extinction around the 17th or 18th century is unclear. Most likely it was due to human activity.

Bow tie Guy of the Day: Gnathabelodon

Gnathabelodon 

Another of my elephant series (I am now looking to draw at least one type of elephant a week) the Gnathabelodon is an extinct ancestor to the elephant that lived during the Middle to Late Miocene epoch. Fossils have been found around North America. They are called “spoon-billed mastodons.”

Bow Tie Guy of the Day: Deinotherium

Deinotherium (dīnəˈTHi(ə)rēəm)

This is part of my elephant series of bow tie guys. The deinotherium is an extinct relative to the modern elephant. They were known as the “hoe tusker” and lived during the Middle Miocene era. Adults stood over 15 feet tall and over 15 tons making this the third largest land animal to have ever existed. They roamed Europe, Asia, and Africa.
