One of the best reference books I have is Animals, 1419 Copyright-Free Illustrations of Mammals, Birds, Fish, Insects, etc. selected by Jim Harter and published by Dover. I just love the book. It was one of the best art gifts I have received. When I am stuck with what to draw or I am trying to draw a specific animal, I just open up to a page and practice drawing an animal.
